The Pentagon sez... STFU.

Interesting post over at talking_points today...

The Pentagon blocked the former chief prosecutor at Gitmo, Col. Morris Davis, from testifying this morning to the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Sen. Feinstein described the reason as follows:

"We assured the administration that Colonel Davis would not be asked about open and pending cases. But we were told simply that Colonel Davis was active duty military, and because he was active duty military, they could issue an order he had to follow."

So, just to be clear, if you're active duty, the Pentagon can order you to not talk to your members of Congress, or, presumably, to not talk to anyone at all. Spouses, lawyers, etc.

Presumably, they could also recall people from reserve status and then order them to STFU too.

No offense, but don't you think there should be reasonable limits to this? You know... something vaguely approaching rights?
