We all know how strange and uncomfortable it can be for our soldiers to return home after serving in Iraq and being exposed to traumatic and stressful experiences on a routine basis. We want to do right by them. And the best way of doing that is seeing to it that they never have to go home again.
Just look at how successful 250,000+ US, Coalition, contractor, and Iraqi forces have been at securing Iraq's border! It should be obvious to anyone that an extra 6,000 National Guard troops on the Mexican border will make all the difference in the world.
That's the great thing about the Republican party. They're great at coming up with simple, homespun, happy-feeling solutions to complex problems. And if the solutions make things worse, well, we can always stay the course. It feels good!
Sure, illegal immigration might not have been a problem during Bush's first five years, but obviously something important has changed to make this an "imminent threat" to our nation. (i.e. It scored high on public opinion polls amongst xenophobes in the 25-38 age bracket) In fact, the Bush administration has determined that this Mexican invasion was specifically timed to take place when Bush's poll numbers were at their lowest.
Obviously, these Speedy Gonzalezes are preying upon our nation's disunity in time of incompetence. They just want to run across our border and steal our cheese!
