Another forgery?

The U.S. military has been extremely busy promoting the "good news" in the latest Al Qaeda letter to Zarqawi. Infact, they have it prominently available on a link from the centcom site in both English and Arabic.

...which might be pretty impressive, if there weren't considerable evidence suggesting that it's a forgery.

Apparently, its use of Arabic seems to be more Iranian (or Southern Iraqi Shi'ite) in origin than Egyptian and its historical facts are screwed up. In addition, its use of both Muslim *AND* Western dates is uncharacteristic and unneccessary in a private communique between two Arabic speakers. And, yes, Al Qaeda is denying its authenticity too.

Now, I don't know for sure whether it's authentic or not, but that said, its provinance does rest on shaky ground. Time to call in some independent Arabic researchers to examine the document, because the government's track record lately hasn't been all that stellar.

Anyone skilled in Arabic who would like to weigh in on the document?
