The latest air force reconnaissance indicates that Rita is now a category two hurricane with 100MPH winds. Its projected course hasn't changed, and appears to be likely to produce additional growth. The central pressure was 976 mb, down 9 mb in the past 6 hours. At this rate of intensification, Rita could become a large Category 3 hurricane as early as tomorrow morning.
At this point, most of the computer models are pointing to a very dangerous hurricane for those in the Galveston/Houston area, who could end up facing the stronger winds on the east side of the storm.
