Dr. Thomas Campbell Butler voluntarily, proactively let the government know about missing vials of a possible biological warfare agent, only to be promptly railroaded and charged with every crime in the book. The jury aquitted him of practically every charge, with the exception of mislabelling a Fed-Ex package. As a result, he and his family are now bankrupt with no source of income to support them, his career has been ruined, and he's spending the next two years in prison. Read even more damning information here.
Dr. Butler previously worked at the Center for Diarrheal Disease Research in Bangladesh, where he developed a treatment for cholera known as oral rehydration therapy, which, according to the World Health Organization, saves the lives of between 2 and 3 MILLION children under four every year.
That'll teach him for talking about the potential for bioterrorism on U.S. soil. So, what *DID* happen to that anthrax investigation anyway?
I hear the Office of Homeland Security has developed a new defense for domestic acts of bioterrorism:
1> Dig a hole in the ground.
2> Put your head in it.
3> Add dirt.
