Just to note it...

San Francisco started allowing gay couples to marry today. While I will be at a convention in the south bay this weekend, spending time with people who are very special to me, it's nice to know that I will have other friends dashing up to San Francisco to get married, converging on the city like it was the second gold rush!

Gold could, of course, not compare to such riches. How marvelous! How beautiful... let's enjoy it before the ubiquitous "they" piss all over the concept of love, invalidating all definitions that do not fit their narrowly prescribed limits for the emotion.

I feel it likely that they will win this battle. That said, I feel equally certain that they will lose the war.
For how could it be otherwise?

"Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking,
it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts,
always hopes, always perseveres.

Love Never Fails."

Corinthians 13 : 4 - 8
