strange things that people say...

Kirsten is home for lunch, and is watching standard crappy midday TV (The People's Court). A mother just won a case against her son for a debt she was owed. And the commentator asked the question...

"You and your mom have had a falling out over this. Would you like a normal, loving relationship with your mother again?"

As opposed to an abnormal loving relationship, I assume. (Well, this is midday television.)

"I noticed earlier that you had a hand down your mother's polyester strenchpants and your tongue was halfway down her throat. Wouldn't you like a normal loving relationship with your mother again?"

Even by today's standards, it still strikes me as a strange choice of words. It seems stranger still that it has become cliche.
