Since we're on the subject...

In the last post, I showed an exterior picture of Moffett Field. Yes, it indicates that the main hangar at Moffett Field is big, but not really how big. Specifically, it is 1,133 feet long and 308 feet wide. It contains whole buildings, and even a few buildings underground.

The Navy pulled out of Moffett a few years back, so now the facility will be used partially by NASA and partially as home for the future California Air and Space Center, which will be located inside the hangar.

They're adding two IMAX theatres, lots of huge, interactive exhibits, teaching facilities, an aerospace training center -- it will be something akin to visiting the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Should be fun...
