India's answer to the Volkswagen.

Introducing the Tata Nano, a cute, smartly designed $2500 car made for the masses. Four door, five seat hatchback. Reaches speeds up to 65 mph.

Oh, and it also gets 55 miles to the gallon.

Despite its relative smallness, the Nano has passed initial crash tests, and is designed to pass further impact testing under European standards.

Sounds like an environmentalist's wet dream? Not quite.  Environmentalists are concerned about every family in the third world owning one of these in the future, and of the impact of having so many new vehicles out there.

Kerry makes a cameo.

Talking Points Memo is reporting that John Kerry is endorsing Barack Obama, and will be making an appearance with him in Charleston, South Carolina later today.

Good news, but I suspect it would've been better news to have Kerry's endorsement before New Hampshire went to the polls, as Kerry won that state. South Carolina went with Edwards in 2004... not that I expect them to do so again.

The Hillary you can appreciate.

RIP, Sir Edmund. You did it first and did it best.

As he said awhile back...
"I think the whole attitude towards climbing Mount Everest has become rather horrifying. The people just want to get to the top. They don’t give a damn for anybody else who may be in distress and it doesn’t impress me at all that they leave someone lying under a rock to die."

"There have been a number of occasions when people have been neglected and left to die and I don’t regard this as a correct philosophy. . . You can try, can’t you? This is the whole thing."
