More movie nights I'd like to see.

The Stanford Theatre is having a few good movie nights coming up...

Greta Garbo:
"Flesh & The Devil", with "Queen Christina" on Aug. 4th.

Clara Bow:
"Wings", with "The Saturday Night Kid" on Aug. 11th.

Marlene Dietrich:
"Witness for the Prosecution", with "Stage Fright" on Aug. 12th.

Alec Guinness:
The original version of "The Ladykillers", with "Kind Hearts and Coronets" on Sept. 9th and 10th.

Bogart & Bacall:
"Key Largo" and "To Have and Have Not" on Sept. 16th and 17th.

Tickets are $6, the last time I checked.

Great 58-year-old educational film.

If you have 10 minutes, I strongly recommend you watch

(Click here to watch in RealPlayer, and here for Quicktime)

It would be wonderful to take this old film and remake it, editing in clips of recent events. Too much of this movie just hits home on too many issues our country has faced recently. It would be entirely possible to do this too, as the movie is in the public domain.

Brave Republicans.

Six Republican senators fought pressure from the Bush administration and voted against passing a Federal ban on Gay Marriage, so I wanted to take the time to mention them by name.

Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell (R-CO)
Senator Lincoln Chafee (R-RI)
Senator Susan Collins (R-ME)
Senator John McCain (R-AZ)
Senator Olympia Snowe (R-ME)
Senator John E. Sununu (R-NH)
