mo' better moblogging

I heard back from stuartcw, who is now sharing the Python script he created which allows him to send emails with pictures from his phone and have them post automatically to his journal.

His script is at http://www.stuartwoodward.com/python/journal2.py.txt

Oh... and it's released under a Creative Commons license, too. Spiffy.

As Stuart said regarding the script:
"It is run via the mail server every time a mail comes to a certain address and it grabs the information in the mail from stdin and posts it over to LJ. My ISP uses Qmail and I just add a file in my home directory to sent all mail sent to a secret address to my script."

My problem, unfortunately, is that I have never so much as looked at Python before. A lot of it *seems* pretty straightforward, but I have the fear -- there must be something I am missing that will make using this script far more troublesome than it appears. I'll have to fiddle around with it a bit. Right about now, I'm wishing I had a Python expert I could bribe who would help me with setting it up, but I will probably have to muddle through. What is really needed for people to make wider use of such scripts are some crystal clear installation instructions, or a web-based application that does it all for you.

It's at times like this when I wish I could just bribe techies with a dozen or so LJ invite codes. I have a headache, and I wish that life didn't conspire against me in ways that force me to think.
