Now I'm feeling Xangafied...

Recently ran into someone who has a journal on Xanga whose exploits I wanted to follow... so I created an RSS feed for them!

Apparently, Xanga now generates full RSS feeds for its users (none of those fugly partial RSS feeds that LJ generates by default... although LJ paid users have a workaround by using styles. My full feed is located at http://www.livejournal.com/customview.cgi?username=insomnia&styleid=90448 for instance, and if you're a paid user, you could simply switch the name in the username field.)

If you know someone on Xanga that you want to add to your friends list, you can go to http://www.livejournal.com/syn/ scroll down to the bottom, and 'Add Other Feed', using a unique account name ('xanga_username' works...) and their Xanga RSS Feed URL, in the following format:
... where the username equals their Xanga username, of course.

Yes, I know -- more RSS babble. A raising of hands for those I helplessly confused...

He ain't horoscope... he's my brother.

Someone has started scraping my old pal Rob Brezny's Free Will Astrology horoscopes into RSS feeds... go here for details on how to add your sign to your friends list.

Frankly, I'm not certain that Rob would approve, because his web site helps pay the bills... but it does make his horoscope easier for people to read, so it's slightly positive. It is a minor moral quandry for me, however. Maybe I should suggest that he add RSS feeds himself, so that he can at least generate links back to his site. It might not make a huge difference now, but believe me... RSS feed readership is growing quickly.

Frankly, it's better to syndicate your own stuff than have someone else do it for you.

Do you have a muse? If not, get one as soon as possible. You shouldn't go another week without a mysterious, inspiring creature to drive you wonderfully crazy.

This is precisely what I have been telling people, too.

Serious inquiries welcome...
