I'm Mark. I'm a geeth... an old-school goth turned computer geek, turned... me?! I'm a bit of a trickster with a thousand faces, but I would just assume not wear a thousand labels.
I am probably best known for having once been the "All things business" manager of LiveJournal, overseeing strategy, design, support, and the viability of the LiveJournal community / open source project. I was later let go by the site's founder over personal differences re: the site, but moving on has allowed me to concentrate on things that are of more personal importance. (i.e. I have a life again.)
In addition to overseeing LJ's business and volunteer communities, I also hatched some of the ideas that made LiveJournal special, like communities and open sourcing the software. Unfortunately, a lot of my other ideas, such as keeping the site member-supported, community-run, and ad-free were killed by others, but as much as I mourn and regret, it's not going to change what happened... and so I keep moving on.
I am married to
iceblink; we've been together for many moons now. She's a good 'un.
I like to live my life in an open, inviting manner. For this reason -- and numerous others I will not go into detail on right now -- I'm polyamorous. (Yes, even my lifestyle is open source! Think free as in free speech *and* free beer!)
I used to have a lot of semi-profound utterings in this space... and indeed, most of them still apply. I still believe in human and scientific progress. I still believe people make a difference. I still believe that we are all one, in important ways, and need to learn from it all and appreciate the beauty of our differences. I still love nature, still appreciate the mysteries of life...
...but really, right at this precise moment

...I probably want to:
- get a cup of coffee or of tea
- really talk to a friend
- hold someone dear to me
- sing, whistle, dance around wildly
- worship at someone's feet... or have someone worship at mine.
- roll around in bed, laughing sinister
- be beaten to a pulp... or do the same to someone else.
- do the nasty
- cook with passion
- cuddle up and watch cartoons
...and if you do it together, it's fantastic!
