al-Jazeera employees fight back.
With blogs, not bombs.

Don't Bomb Us -- A blog by Al Jazeera Staffers.

In response to the threat of the British government to arrest any of its citizens who leak the memo in which Bush reportedly suggested to Blair that al-Jazeera be bombed, a grassroots effort has also sprung up of reporters and websites willing to work together to collectively leak the memo.

In other words, if the British government wanted to arrest the leaker, they'd have to be prepared to arrest hundreds of others at the same time.

And yes, if I had the memo, I'd leak it too, even though it might effect my dual citizenship. The British people have the right to know. So do the people of the US and the people of Qatar, for that matter.

That bush would even suggest such a thing disgusts me. That the British is apparently complicit in covering it up, at least, appalls me.

Al-Jazeera is not a hotbed of terrorism. It's a hotbed of truth, or at least more of the truth than the Western media will provide.

Of course, Bush did say, "If you're not with us, you're against us..." - and I suppose in his mind that goes for journalists, too.

But that's no better than Al Qaeda members who kidnap and kill journalists or bomb their lodgings or whatever.

Two wrongs don't make a right.

I added my name too.

Now, where'd you find the little banner link? I'm overtired, so I may be missing the obvious here...

I couldn't find it either. So I just grabbed his, put it on my webspace (I know it's on flikr, but I've been so ingrained not to steal bandwidth...), and linked to the page he did - hope you don't mind, [info]insomnia!

You're welcome to borrow the image link, if you'd like.

America allows dual citizenship?

Legally, the US does not care if Great Britain thinks I am a British citizen, and Great Britain does not care that the US thinks I am a US citizen.

That said, newly naturalized US citizens are required to renounce their previous citizenship, though I don't know whether that is actually enforced/accepted as valid by most other nations. Most nations, like Britain, do not force people to renounce their prior citizenship.
