A picture that says more than 1000 words.

Is it me, or has that thing on his back returned?

Why is he putting a finger in his ear during the interview? Does he have something in his other ear, perhaps?!

I think the most likely answer is an ear bud myself.

My balls occasionally itch or need adjustment, but I wouldn't do it on camera.

Okay. Maybe I *would* do it, but I'd want to get paid first.

I'm not defending the guy, but he's probably got a freakin' earbud in so he can hear the guys on the other fucking end.

It's standard fucking practice when you're broadcasting. You run a mike and an earbud so the person can hear what the others people are saying without blasting the room you're in with extra sound. It's not all a conspiracy, sometimes it's just equipment.

I don't know what the thing on his back is, and I'm not even going to guess.

It could indeed be an earbud. It's just a bit fishy, really.

Then again, how much more staged does a staged event need to be?

This whole PR campaign over the past week or so has been a fiasco. People would rather see obvious signs that the president is doing his job, rather than signs that the president is trying to look like he's doing his job.

Um, www.crooksandliars.com has the video footage, and it sounds like they're broadcasting the answers into the room.

Not that it doesn't mean he'd not still need an earbud - the audio's not all that great. Still, they are "blasting the room" anyway.

Something's definitely under Bush's jacket. In his rare press conferences, how come reporters don't come out and ask Bush what he wears under his jacket?

The first think I noticed when I looked at that picture was that it appeared to me that he has the soldiers in the cross-hairs. I realize the lines are caused by the picture being made on four different flat panel monitors, but I maintain my first thought was right, he has our soldiers in his cross-hairs. I don't think I'd get an argument from anyone forced to use a VA hospital.

puhleeze. anyone who has heard this guy speak, who still feels as though he has something valuable to say probably would say so regardless of what comes out of the twit prince's mouth.

NBC News last night had a segment on this. It included a shot of Chimpy walking to the podium, picking up the earbud, and sticking it in his ear. (We didn't see the rehearsal of him mistakenly sticking it up his nose, though.)

He picked it up off of the lectern and put it in first thing at the top of the ... whatever that little sideshow was supposed to be called.

But, yes. The hump is back. you can also see the outline of his bullet-proof vest in those pics.

Sad state of affairs.

My own suspicion is that it's an electric pain-control device, intended to block pain signals from an old back injury.

If he does have chronic pain (I'm just guessing here), that might also explain his hours-long workout sessions, his long vacations, the long-standing rumors of his taking various narcotics, as well as his increasingly erratic behavior.

The poor man. He really needs to slow down and take it easy. We can help by relieving him of his current demanding job.
