Interview I did yesterday...
Looks like the Investor's Business Daily interview is available here. Why on Yahoo?! Dunno. Don't care.

I don't know what I think of it, frankly. I feel more comfortable being one of the messengers rather than part of the story... and to me, it doesn't say enough about what is happening in New Orleans and to the people involved.

No single news agency is reporting on more than a part of the story. As far as I've been able to glean:

-There may be tens of thousands of people still in New Orleans. Bodies have been seen floating in the water.
-The city is now flooded up to about 20 feet, and flooding continues, as one of the main levees has broken (and is getting more broken due to water flow).
-Several oil rigs have broken loose, one lodged under a bridge on (I think) US 98. At least one is leaking heavily.
-An oil tanker on the Mississippi is leaking, and another may still be adrift. A third was adrift, but was locked down.
-The only port for Ultra Large and Very Large oil tankers in the US is closed.

So now the midwest gets a taste of Californian gas prices. About time.

We find it beneath contempt that most media around the country have not interrupted regularly scheduled programming to report the catastrophic devastation, destruction, and ruin of an American city...we've been linking to your blog because it's been an outstanding source of information for people who have friends or simply feel a cultural tie to the City of New Orleans...I hope you're able to continue your updates for a few days...

You've done a great job blogging this disaster. If you're going to work that hard, you're going to have to accept some kudos.

Congrats, Mark!

As for being the messenger, well, the article's focus is on the technology angle, not the disaster itself. Since most technology is no longer working, they focus on what is: your efforts.

I reposted this to [info]lj_biz, as it is relevant to that community.

I read about this article in [info]d4b's blog. Congratulations. You are doing a great thing for LJers and other concerned citizens. It's about time someone showed the human side of disaster (and, in your other fine work -- war).
